My Independence Day

Today is the first day of my first jobless month. There is no telling how long joblessness will last, but I am spending the next two weeks finishing my portfolio. I will then send out resume/portfolio packets for another week. After that, I'm off to visit the family back in Minnesota.

I'll probably stay there for a couple of weeks while I plot my next move. It will target travel, activities that will advance my future career prospects, and a lot of de-stressing leisure time. Until I'm back in the rat-race again, I intend to enjoy my life.

Even the next two weeks are going to involve 8-hour workdays, as an ideal, but certainly with plenty of time to exercise, do yoga and stretch. To read the news and write a blog entry or two. To get back into the habit of enjoying my life. I'm going to spend an hour per day organizing and cleaning out the stuff that's accumulated in the garage, and on weekends I'm going to continue my ongoing purge of overfilled drawers and cupboards.

It's hard to leave a job I've had for 9 years, but I'm already making up for it. I feel great. Pretty optimistic. Like I'm clearing cobwebs from my life. I'm definitely ready for the next thing, whatever it might turn out to be.
