Job Hunting, part I

I spent the day working on my digital portfolio and will spend more this evening. I want to make it really great, but I'll settle for passable on version 1, then get critiques from my mentors and keep polishing it.

I saw an ad today for a job in Philly that really intrigues me. It'll be competitive, but even if I don't get it, applying will hone my portfolio. It's close enough to what I'm looking for to give me a good "target audience" for my CV and portfolio. Tomorrow I will call around for some letters of recommendation (having a specific job in mind makes THAT much easier!).

I'm in a very small niche, and further, I'm not willing to settle for a job I can't love. I think it will take at least 35 hours just to put together a first version of my portfolio. But I'm going to be okay until the first of July, so I have a bit of flexibility.

I'd like to find either an irresistible offer in a great place or a one-year contract anywhere.
